Opening Supplication / Jummah Khutbah

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم

الْحَمْدُ للهِ الَّذِي جَعَلَ يَوْمَ الْجُمُعَةِ سَيِِّدِ الأَيَّامِ وَلا نَعْبُدُ وَلا

نَسْتَعِينُ إلاَّ إِيَّاهُ وَهُوَ الَّذِي فَرَضَ صَلاةَ الْجُمُعَةِ بِقَوْلِهِ تَعَالَى

يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا إِذَا نُودِي لِلصَّلَاةِ مِن يَوْمِ الْجُمُعَةِ فَاسْعَوْا إِلَى ذِكْرِ اللَّهِ وَذَرُوا

الْبَيْعَ ذَلِكُمْ خَيْرٌ لَّكُمْ إِن كُنتُمْ تَعْلَمُونَ 

والصَّلاة عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ سَيِّدِ الأَنَامِ وَعَلَى آلِهِ وَأَصْحَابِهِ الْكِرَامِ خُصُوصًا عَلَى أَفْضَلِ 

الْبَشَرِ بَعْدَ الأَنْبِيَاءِ بِالتَّحْقِيقِ أَمِيرِ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ أَبِي بَكْرٍ الصِّدِّيقِ

وَعَلَى النَّاطِقِ بِالصِّدْقِ وَالصَّوَابِ أَمِيرِ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ عُمَرَ بْنِ الْخَطَّابِ

وَعَلَى كَامِلِ الْحَيَاءِ وَالإِيمَانِ أَمِيرِ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ عَفَّانِ

وَعَلَى أَسَدِ اللهِ الْغَالِبِ  أَمِيرِ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ عَلِيِّ بْنِ أَبِي طَالِبِ

وَعَلَى الإِمَامَيْنِ الْهُمَامَيْنِ السَّعِيدَيْنِ الشَّهِيدَيْنِ أَبِي مُحَمَّدٍ الْحَسَنِ وَعَلَى عَبْدِ اللهِ

الْحُسَيْنِ

وَعَلَى أُمِّهِمَا سَيِّدَةِ النِّسَاءِ فَاطِمَةَ الزَّهْرَاءِ وَعَلَى عَمَّيْهِ الشَّرِيفَيْنِ الْمُطَهَّرَيْنِ مِنَ

الأَدْنَاسِ الْحَمْزَةِ والْعَبَّاسِ  وَعَلَى السِّتَّةِ الْبَاقِيَةِ مِنَ الْعَشَرَةِ الْمُبَشَّرَةِ

وَسَائِرِ الصَّحَابَةِ وَالتَّابِعِينَ رِضْوَانَ اللهِ تَعَالَى عَلَيْهِمْ أَجْمَعِينَ

In The Name of Allah who is Gracious and Most Merciful

All Praise and gratitude is due to Allah who gave Friday  superiority over all other days. We do not worship anyone except Allah and we seek every kind of help from Him Alone.

It is Allah who enjoined the Jummah Prayer on all Muslims by saying, “O Believers, whenever you are called to Prayer on Friday, hasten to the remembrance of Allah and quit business, that is better for you, if ye but knew.”

And we send countless blessings on His Holy Prophet Muhammad, who is the Spiritual Leader of all Humanity, and on his family and on his honorable companions…particularly on the Commander of the Faithful, Abu Bakr, the Truthful,  the most distinguished man after the Prophets (as), and on the Commander of the Faithful, Umar ibn Khattab, who always spoke on the basis of truth and justice and on the Commander of the Faithful, Uthman ibn Affan, who was always perfect in faith and modesty and on Commander of the Faithful,  Ali ibn Abi Talib, the Victorious Lion of Allah. And on the two sacred, honored and spiritually distinguished martyr sons of Ali, Hassan Abu-Muhammad and Hussain Abu- Abdullah…

...and we also send countless blessings on their honored Mother Fatima, who is the chief of all women in this world and in the hereafter…and on the two noble uncles of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (saw) Hamzah and Abbas…and on the six other worthy companions of the Holy Prophet who received the happy tiding of being the ‘Inmates of Paradise’…and on all other associates and followers of the Holy Prophet  may Allah be pleased with them all !!

The sermon or khutbah is then delivered in 2 parts with a rest in between asking Allah to accept this service and forgive our shortcomings

At the completion of the khutbah:

الْحَمْدُ للهِ نَحْمَدُه وَنَسْتَعِينُهْ وَنَسْتَغْفِرُه وَنُؤْمِنُ بِهِ وَنَتَوَكَّلُ عَلَيْهِ وَنَعُوذُ بِاللهِ مِنْ

شُرُورِ أَنْفُسِنَا وَمِنْ سَيِّئَاتِ أَعْمَالِنَا مَنْ يَهْدِ اللهُ فَلاَ مُضِلَّ لَهْ وَمَنْ يُضْلِلْهُ فَلاَ هَادِيَ

لَهْ وَنَشْهَدُ أَنَّ لاَ إِلَهَ إِلاَ اللهُ وَنَشْهَدُ أَنَّ مُحَمَّدًا عَبْدُهُ وَرَسُولُه

All Praise is due to Allah. We thank Him and Glorify Him : we  seek every kind of help from Him ; we ask His forgiveness for our sins, we have a firm belief in Him and in His Attributes and for our needs we rely solely upon Him.

 Moreover,   we seek Allah’s refuge and protection to avoid the temptations of our evil selves ( Nafsi-Ammara ), and to be safe from the harm of our own wrongdoing.

 To whosoever Allah  shows the right-path, which is the proper understanding and application of the Sunnah, there is none that can mislead him and whosoever Allah leaves to stray, no one can bring him back to it.

 We bear witness that there is none worthy of Worship and Obedience except Allah, and we bear witness that Muhammad is His Obedient Servant and Last True Prophet (saw).

A few announcements about the community can be made such as births, deaths and marriages reminding the community to to be mindful of Allah's bounty and grace. Then this final supplication. ( Keep this under 2 or 3 minutes)

Final Supplication

إِنَّ اللهَ وَمَلائِكَتَهُ يُصَلُّونَ عَلَى النَّبِيِّ يَأَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا صَلُّوا عَلَيْهِ وَسَلِّمُوا تَسْلِيمًا

  اللَّهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَعَلَى آلِ مُحَمَّدٍ بِعَدَدِ مَنْ صَلَّى وَصَامَ، اللَّهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَى

مُحَمَّدٍ وَعَلَى آلِ مُحَمِّدٍ بِعَدَدِ مَنْ قَعَدَ وَقَامَ وَصَلِّ عَلَى جَمِيعِ الأَنْبِيَاءِ وَالْمُرْسَلِينَ

وَعَلَى كُلِّ مَلاَئِكَةِ الْمُقَرَّبِينَ وَعَلَى عِبَادِ اللهِ الصَّالِحِينَ بِرَحْمَتِكَ يَا أَرْحَمَ

الرَّاحِمِينَ، عِبَادَ اللهِ إِنَّ اللهَ يَأْمُرُ بِالْعَدْلِ وَالإِحْسَانِ وَإِيتَاءِ ذِي الْقُرْبَى وَيَنْهَى عَنِ

الْفَحْشَاءِ وَالْمُنْكَرِ وَالْبَغْيِ يَعِظُكُمْ لَعَلَّكُمْ تَذَكَّرُونَ وَلَذِكْرُ اللهِ تَعَالَى أَعْلَى وَأَوْلَى

وَأَعَزُّ وَأَجَلُّ وَأَتَمُّ وّأَهَمُّ وَأَكْبَرُ

Indeed Allah and all His angels send blessings on the Holy Prophet Muhammad (saw), therefore, O Believers, you to should send your blessings on him with a sense of reverence and gratitude,

Hence we say, “O Allah, send as many blessings on Muhammad and his family as the number of  Prayers and Fasting by the people of his Nation”.

“O Allah send as many blessings on Muhammad and his family as the number of standing and sitting in prayers by all his followers”.

“Allah, also send Thy Blessings on all other Prophets, distinguished Angels and righteous people and cover them up with Thy Mercy and Kindness, O Most Merciful One”.

O Believers, O Servants of Allah, Allah commands you to be just and true to all Mankind and to be Benevolent towards your Relatives and the poor;  He gives you all these pieces of advice that you may realize Righteousness and tread the Right Path.

And never ever forget that the Remembrance and Glorification of Allah is the most distinguished, praiseworthy, honoured, faultless, important and magnificent thing in the world.
